If you have issue s with the built-in driver, it may be related to this bug. It’s plug and play without any ew7811nu. However, I suspect it has something to do with the Kernel version.

Bellow are the steps I needed to take in order to solve the problem in the smoothest fashion — I hope others might benefit from it in the future. Use the command line utility dmesg to review kernel messages.
Here’s the instructions on how to install the open source driver from github on Debian-based Linux OS with kernel v3. After confirming linnux connection on root and user profile you can then run sudo apt- update and sudo apt-get upgrade. I tried removing the blacklist line and rebooting to see if the new kernel might support the wireless adapter out of the box, but no such luck.
The only way to see these is to boot with a directly attached display and watch the messages going by.
